The present book is written on contrastive analysis of the morphology of two languages i.e. Hindi and English. Contrastive analysis is one of the important fields of the study of linguistics which deals with the similarities and differences found in the two different languages. They may occur at phonological, grammatical or semantic levels of the languages. This analysis is a synchronic study which involves at least two languages at a time as its object of study. In contrastive analysis, the contrasts are found by comparing the languages. The contrasts are analyzed to minimize the difficulty in learning a second language. The contrastive analysis emphasizes on the gravitational pull of first language in the process of learning second language. The contrastive linguistics play a very important role in error analysis, it is of a great use in translation. Translation is highly dependent on contrastive analysis.
In the present book, an attempt has been made to study Hindi and English morphology with the help of contrastive analysis. It is evident that both the languages differ considerably at the morphological level which creates difficulties for a second language learner. This book may be helpful not only for the language teachers and learners but also for the translators, who can prepare teaching material as well as translate into the target language on the basis of this book.
